A New Way to Explore Color

Hue Harbor

Turn. Overlap. Discover.

A little turn invites a closer look. Hue Harbor is a tabletop color-play concept that brings translucent color, hands-on movement, and a sculptural double-arch silhouette together in one inviting design.

A Small Harbor for Big Curiosity

What happens when yellow meets blue? What changes when another color moves into view? Hue Harbor centers the experience on those simple, satisfying questions.

Its proposed rotating color wheels meet at a shared viewing area, inviting children to explore overlapping filters, notice differences, and describe what they see. The play begins with a turn—and continues with “What if?”

Three Invitations to Play

01 / TURN

Start With Movement

The side controls are designed to move the color wheels, giving little hands an active role in the experience.

02 / LOOK

Follow the Overlap

Look toward the shared window and notice how layered transparent colors change the view.

03 / EXPLORE

Try Another Combination

Turn again, compare what you see, and find a favorite color combination to revisit.

“What Color Do You Think Comes Next?”

Make room for a little shared discovery. Take turns choosing a color, describe it in your own words, or look around the room for something similar. There is no score to chase—just another combination to explore.

Playful Color. A Considered Shape.

The design pairs a soft ivory front with visible layered wood edges, a dusty blue base, and a coral-colored handle. Transparent yellow, cyan, and pink elements bring a vivid focal point to the otherwise quiet palette.

  • Double-arch silhouette: Two rounded forms frame the overlapping color wheels.
  • Contrasting side controls: A coral handle and a ridged blue dial give each side its own visual character.
  • Broad tabletop base: A low platform anchors the design, with three circular color accents along the front.
  • Visible texture: Wood-grain details and translucent surfaces create a balance of tactile and visual interest.

Make the Moment Your Own

Start with a question: “Can you find something green?” Then take a closer look at the overlap. Try describing a color without naming it, or choose a favorite and explain what it reminds you of.

The concept is intended for tabletop exploration, with the toy placed on a level surface and an adult nearby to share the experience.

A Few Things to Know

What is the idea behind Hue Harbor?

Hue Harbor is a concept for a hands-on color exploration toy. Rotating translucent wheels are intended to create changing overlaps within a shared viewing area.

Does it project light or use a screen?

The proposed design uses physical color filters and ambient light, rather than a screen or an integrated projector. Any transmitted color depends on the lighting, filter materials, and final construction.

Will the colors look exactly like the concept images?

Not necessarily. Color appearance and any colored shadows will vary with the light source, viewing angle, and materials. The images illustrate the design direction rather than verified optical performance.

What age is it suitable for?

A recommended age has not yet been established. Age suitability, materials, moving-part clearances, and applicable toy safety requirements must be evaluated before the product is offered for sale.
